Nature of Work
 
The Junior Program Officer for Education will provide grant and community
liaison support for ACFs educational programs, including the Educating
Arizona Initiative, the Board Initiative for Education, the Ellis Center for
Educational Excellence and Arizona Early Education Fund. The Education
programs division provides direct grants, provides counsel to high net-worth
individuals for their education grant-making, convenes leaders (foundation,
non-profit, education, government, etc.) to advance education reform, and
advances public policy efforts to support education reform.
 
Primary responsibilities
 
 Provide technical assistance to educational grant applicants; review
applications for completeness; coordinate grant review panels; assist with
review of grantee reports
 Provide routine communication with education program donors and
funding partners
 Assist with research on potential grantees, public policy efforts,
etc.
 Assist with contributions to relevant education content for ACFs
website, newsletter, annual report, etc.
 Prepare presentations and reports in support of all ACF education
activities
 With Education Director, coordinate with contracted educational
researchers; monitor contracts and deliverables
 Coordinate meetings, workshops and conferences.
 Conduct relevant data entry regarding grantees, etc.
 Perform other duties and projects, as assigned by Education Director
 
Knowledge or Skills
 
 Minimum Bachelors Degree. Masters in Education or Public
Administration preferred
 Minimum three years experience in the nonprofit sector or
educational system
 Experience in grantmaking required
 Experience with public policy preferred, but not required
 Experience with event planning preferred, but not required
 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
 Ability to work with donors, volunteers and community leaders,
demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality
 Capable of multi-tasking, maintaining timeliness and accuracy
 
 
Other Requirements
 
This position functions in an office environment and requires local and/or
regional travel. Candidate must be proficient with computers and
appropriate software such as Power Point, Access, EXCEL and Word.
 
We are also seeking candidates who have a passion for education reform in
diverse communities.
