Job Description:
Summer Scholars mission is to narrow the educational achievement gap for
youth. To accomplish this mission, Summer Scholars operates three extended
learning programs for the students and families at 20 partner Denver Public
Elementary Schools. The programs include:
 
 Summer Literacy and Recreation
 After-School Literacy and Recreation
 Family Literacy
 
Summer Scholars is a multi-site, community-based literacy program working to
improve the reading and writing skills of elementary-aged Denver Public
Schools students. Programs are provided after school and in the summer. The
organization has an annual budget of $3.5 million.
 
POSITION FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Development Director
coordinates and implements all aspects of development and communications for
Summer Scholars. Fundraising duties include: grant development, writing and
reporting, special event coordination, annual financial appeals, donor
cultivation, solicitation and relations. Additionally, the Development
Director manages overall organizational communications including annual
reports, webpage design and content and media relations.
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Six to 10 years of progressive development experience, including grant
writing, special event planning, and donor cultivation.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities.
 
COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: $50,000 -$55,000 based on education and experience. Full-time
exempt position, traditional office hours with occasional early morning,
evening and weekend hours. Standard benefits package will apply including
