Job Description:
Summer Scholars is a community-based literacy program serving elementaryage
children in Northeast Denver who are reading below grade level. Our program
includes a summer school and recreation program at multiple elementary
schools. Summer Scholars is currently recruiting recreation instructors for
the 2008 session. In the summer, our classes are held daily, Monday through
Friday 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM, June 16 to July 25, 2008. Instructors are
expected to be there from 11:00 AM  4:00 PM.
 
In addition, all instructors are expected to attend full day training June
2nd  June 6th and selected times during the week of June 9 - 12, 2008.
 
Summer Scholars summer recreation program is located in these schools:
Ashley, Barrett, Columbine, Dora Moore, Fairmont, Garden Place, Gilpin,
Greenlee, Harrington, Mitchell, Montclair, Palmer, Park Hill, Philips, Smith
Swansea and Whittier.
 
Job Requirements
 Work entire time without days off except July 4.
 Complete all paperwork required by State of Colorado for State Child Care
licensing.
 Attend all training and staff meetings.
 Assist with program planning and activity development.
 Help coordinate daily enrichment activities.
 Conduct a variety of daily classes.
 Assist enrichment teachers with presentations.
 Provide safe and quality care to students.
 Adhere to all Summer Scholars policies as stated in staff manual.
 Other duties as assigned.
 
Minimal Requirements
1. At least 18 years of age 4. Must pass Social Services Child
Care requirements*
2. Child care experience 5. In good standing with DPS
(or other school districts)
3. Able to work the entire schedule including training 6. In
good standing with Summer Scholars
 
Compensation
 $12.00/hour (new employee) $12.50 (returning employee), once all paperwork
is completed for all program, meeting, training, and approved planning time.
 Job related mileage reimbursed according to Summer Scholars guidelines.
