Job Description:
NFTE, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship with global
headquarters based in New York City, is seeking a Program Director.
 
Organization Background
 
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS
approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE teaches entrepreneurship
education programs to young people from low-income communities.
 
NFTEs strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with
schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative
experiential curricula, train and support teachers and youth workers, and
provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has
reached over 185,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 21 states and 14
countries.
 
Position Summary
 
The Program Director is responsible for directing one program manager to
ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in
accordance NFTE objectives for the South Florida program office. This
position directs program strategy, program design, and the development of
resources to provide programs to the South Florida community, members
organizations and the organizations governing body. Establishes budget and
ensures that the programs meet overall NFTE objectives.
 
A Program Director of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship
(NFTE) is responsible for promoting and implementing NFTEs experiential
curriculum and quality, successful youth entrepreneurship programs
(in-school and after-school). This is achieved by developing relationships
with educators, community-based youth workers, M-DCPS, fundraisers, and
mentors. The Program Director must also initiate programs that recognize
and respond to both new and experienced NFTE teachers. The Director needs
to be teacher-centric in developing innovative ways to support teachers and
their classroom needs.
 
The Program Director will be instrumental in maintaining relationships with
school districts and business and community leaders in South Florida,
volunteer recruitment and alumni development.
 
Responsibilities
 
 Implement strategy for new program recruitment and partnership development
for the South Florida program office.
 Perform demographic analyses
 Manage inquiries and disseminate marketing materials
 Identify and help promote student success stories to media
 Implement strategy ensuring program quality and consistency with
individual schools.
 Design and implement regional support services for teachers to build their
business knowledge and skills in teaching entrepreneurship experientially.
 Research, package and disseminate entrepreneurship and teaching resources
 Facilitate best-practices sharing among NFTE-trained teachers
 Develop, plan and coordinate all teacher training and teacher development
opportunities, facilitating best-practices sharing among NFTE-trained
teachers
 Together with executive director, recruit volunteers as guest speakers and
business plan judges
 Manage program logistics such as teacher advances, stipends, and program
implementation status.
 Collect and track all program information and expenses, and prepare
information or internal and external reporting.
 Oversee program budget allocations, organize site visits, create program
reports and identify funding needs.
 Assist with development and implementation of volunteer initiatives,
recruiting corporate and individual volunteers, assign to locations, and
developing and maintaining volunteer database.
 Collaborate with the NFTE Alumni Services to refer students to post-NFTE
program business support services.
 Collaborate with headquarters and program offices to capture and share
best practices and identify and implement necessary program evaluation
tools, especially through TEAMS (Teaching Entrepreneurship Assessment and
Management System.)
 
Qualifications
 
 Bachelors degree required; a masters degree preferred.
 Minimum five to seven years experience teaching and/or in a
business/professional environment required.
 Experience in an education-related community-based organization or school
environment preferred. Experience working in Miami-Dade County Public
Schools preferred.
 Strong organizational skills and detail orientation required.
 Strategic planning and implementation as well as project management
experience.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
 Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, display strong
leadership and organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple
projects.
 Spanish language a plus.
 Familiarity with business concepts.
 Customer service orientation desirable.
 People management experience is required.
 Familiarity with M-DCPS Department of Education and/or FL Government
preferred.
 The Program Director position is full-time and reports to the Executive
Director.
