Job Description:
NFTE, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship with global
headquarters based in New York City, is seeking a Volunteer Manager.
 
Organization Background
 
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS
approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE teaches entrepreneurship
education programs to young people from low-income communities.
 
NFTEs strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with
schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative
experiential curricula, train and support teachers and youth workers, and
provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has
reached over 185,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 21 states and 14
countries.
 
Position
 
The Volunteer Manager manages all aspects of volunteer programs for NFTE
South Florida. This includes the design, development, and implementation of
programming. The Volunteer Services Manager will collaborate with other
NFTE staff members to implement and assist in the design and development of
programs for NFTE. Prepares reports on the status of the various programs
including stage of development, budget variance or completion dates.
 
A Volunteer Manager of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship
(NFTE) is responsible for promoting and implementing NFTEs experiential
curriculum and quality, successful youth entrepreneurship programs
(in-school and after-school). This is achieved by developing relationships
with educators, community-based youth workers, fundraisers, and mentors.
Volunteer Managers must also initiate programs that recognize and respond to
both new and experienced NFTE volunteers, students/alumni, and teachers.
 
Responsibilities
 
 Manage all aspects of volunteer program including:
 Recruitment and outreach
 Application and screening
 Training and placement
 Stewardship and appreciation events and activities
 Follow-up surveys
 Manage volunteer database coordinating with Raisers Edge
 Work with Program Director to manage logistics for Citywide, State, and
National Business Plan Competitions as well as other events as needed.
 Promote NFTE and its volunteer opportunities to educational, business and
professional partners.
 Develop and implement a communication plan for volunteers using web, email
and written correspondence.
 Provide support for advisory board of directors program and nominating
subcommittees to identify new volunteers, communicate detail and input into
the volunteer program.
 Administrative and clerical responsibilities as needed for South Florida
office
 
Qualifications
 
 Bachelors degree required.
 Minimum two years experience teaching and/or in a business/professional
environment preferred.
 Experience in an education-related community-based organization or school
environment preferred.
 Strong organizational skills and detail orientation required
 Planning and implementation as well as project management experience.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Negotiation and interpersonal skills.
 Capacity to deal with ambiguity
 Must be able to work with nominal supervision and collaboratively, possess
leadership and organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple
projects.
 Familiarity with business concepts.
 Customer service orientation desirable.
 Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
 Capacity to deal with ambiguity.
 
The Volunteer Manager position is full-time and reports to the Executive
Director.
