Position Title:                Health Occupations Instructor               Base:       $13.55/hr – $20.33/hr.

                                    20 hours a week

 

Reports to:                   Manager, Career Technical Training      Department:                  Career Technical Training

 

Positions Summary:

 

Reports to the manager, career technical training program.  Responsible for providing career technical instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula in compliance with government and management directives.

 

Essential Functions:

 

1.         Provides students with career technical training in a safe and clean environment.

2.         Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits.  Coordinate with counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting students training.

3.         Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.

4.         Participate on career management teams.

5.         Administer and correct test; maintain progress and attendance reports.

6.         Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs; recommend purchases.

7.         Assist in the planning and implementation of CTST projects, as applicable; provide supervision of enrollees assigned to CTST projects or other center career technical projects.

8          Complete performance evaluations for all assigned students and participate on student evaluation panels.

9.         Participate in student employability programs and activities.

10.       Support and promote center zero tolerance policies.

11.       Promote the development of positive Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through intervention.

12.       Maintain accountability of students, children and property; adhere to safety practices.

13.       Document student progress on Training Achievement Records and required by procedures.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Registered nurse in the state of employment or LPN and three years of practical experience.  Valid teaching certificate in the state of Iowa..
