We are Non-Profit Organization located on the North-side specializing in job
search assistance to Veterans and we would like to talk to you
POSITION DETAILS:
Provide job search assistance and supportive services referrals to job
seekers/Veterans. Conduct outreach and establish connections with social
service agencies and public assistance government organizations. Recruit
veterans and low-income populations to enroll in the workforce development
program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide information and referrals to Veterans/job seekers regarding
Veterans programs and agencies.
Issue workforce development supportive services such as bus passes,
clothing vouchers, and other. Track issued services and conduct monthly
inventory of supportive services cards.
Conduct outreach and establish connections with organizations
providing other non-employment services (i.e., VA/Vet Center, Child care,
Housing, Food Pantry, Education, etc)
Conduct outreach to recruit Veterans and other individuals to
register with the center.
Work directly with Veterans and provide assistance to employment,
including understanding veterans benefits, and veterans services as
provided through the Veteran Administration.
Facilitate job readiness training workshops that include resume
writing, interviewing, internet job search and other workshops as needed.
Work one-on-one with customers to prepare for interviews or to
assist in writing a resume, and guide in job search.
Secure employment verification and follows-up with customers and
employers after placement; 30, 90, and 180 day retention.
Responsible for intake and registry of workforce customers,
including collection of all necessary eligibility documentation in a timely
manner.
Assist in writing and organization of grant proposals and
applications.
Willingly assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be
required or assigned.
Must be willing to occasional evening and weekend hours.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English) are
required.
Good presentation skills and public speaking.
Computer skills in: MS Office, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access and
Excel.
Fluency in a foreign language preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of interviewing, resume writing, and cover letter
standards.
Ability to relate well to job seeker, understand their needs and set
goals to achieve employment.
Ability to proactively approach case management and job development
with a strong sense of urgency and willingness to meet established
deadlines.
Ability to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to own and drive a vehicle preferred
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree required.
Two years successful professional employment experience in human
resources, marketing, sales, business, economics or a similar setting. (Five
or more years related work experience preferred.)
