The Greater Chicago Food Depository - Chicagos Food Bank for over 25 years,
seeks an exceptional development professional to serve as the Manager of
Individual Giving for this not-for-profit organization that provides food
for hungry people while striving to end hunger in the community. The
individual will specialize in a wide spectrum of individual donor campaigns,
ranging from annual fund appeals, direct mail programs, online philanthropy
to estate planning. The successful candidate will have a proven track
record in achieving fundraising goals, experience in managing a portfolio of
individual donors, excel as a strong relationship builder with a keen
understanding of what motivates others and a commitment to the
organizational mission of ending hunger.
 
Founded in 1978, the Greater Chicago Food Depository distributes 40 million
pounds of donated and purchased food, through a network of 600 food
pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, to almost a half-million people
annually, the equivalent of more than 84,000 meals every day. Headquartered
in a new state-of-the-art food bank and training center, the Food Depository
is home to innovative programs such as the Agency Mart, Pantry University
and Chicagos Community Kitchens. All departments and member agencies play
a distinctive role in helping to provide food to the elderly, children, the
working poor, single-parent families and the newly unemployed throughout
Chicagoland.
 
The Manager of Individual Giving is responsible for planning, implementing
and evaluating all programs to secure short- and long-term support from new
and existing individual donors. He / she will hold a Bachelors degree with
a minimum of three to five years employment experience in the nonprofit
sector, working with individual donors, and a demonstrated ability to meet
objectives in a deadline driven environment. A proficiency in MS Office is
required and a working knowledge of Raisers Edge and Convio is preferred.
This position reports to the Interim Director of External Affairs and works
in collaboration with the entire team of fundraising and communication
professionals.
