Job Description:
The Jewish United Fund/ Federation of Metropolitan Chicago is looking for a
Program Director, JCRC/Hillels Israel Initiative to expand the quality and
quantity of high-impact pro-Israel activities on Illinois campuses; in high
schools and in Jewish residential summer camps. This includes outreach to
Jewish and non-Jewish students, faculty and administrators. Specifically,
the Program Director, JCRC/Hillels Israel Initiative works in cooperation
with Hillel staff in the implementation of events and coordinates speakers
on campuses for Jewish and non-Jewish audiences; coordinates the IsraLimmud
Education and Advocacy Fellowship; oversees implementation of programs in
high schools and Jewish residential summer camps; works in cooperation with
Hillel staff in individual outreach/recruitment of Jewish students via
Hillel, Greek system, dorms; Friends of Israel groups, PACs, youth
movements and other networking venues; and provides outreach to non-Jewish
students, faculty and other groups/organizations on campus ; supervises the
Campus Associate and the multi-campus intern program; creates and
disseminates pro-Israel information and materials; works with other groups
such as Write-On for Israel and high school youth movements to create
e-mails, list serves, special access websites, etc.; writes articles and
updates for JUF News, the web, E-Alert and donors as appropriate; oversees
the budget and writing funding proposals as necessary; monitors and guides
student response to anti-Israel activities on campuses; and participates
fully in all regularly scheduled Hillel staff meetings and performs such
other duties as assigned, including fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates will have a B.A. from an accredited
institution; M.A. preferred; previous travel to Israel; 3-5 years experience
working with American students and/or young adults in a Jewish context;
current knowledge of campus life, Israel, Zionism and Middle East politics;
self-starter who inspires and motivates others, achieves results fast, works
under pressure, juggles several projects simultaneously, meets firm
deadlines and works well with multiple partners; excellent public speaking
and writing skills; available to work evenings and weekends as needed; and
must have valid drivers license.
