The John Paul
II Newman Foundation invites applicants for the position of
Director of
Community Relations and Leadership Development. As a major
campus ambassador
to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and the
greater Chicago
metropolitan community, this individual will: maintain and
develop coherent
and coordinated relations with UIC students, faculty, and
staff as well as
the universitys external community; plan and coordinate
events on and off
campus; promote and organize programs and seek
opportunities that promote
collaboration among students, faculty, staff and
alumni with not-for-profit
organizations; and support and promote the John
Paul II Newman Foundations
efforts in managing the civic engagement and
volunteerism
programming
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess
a baccalaureate degree and a record
for outstanding experience and leadership
relevant to performing this
positions responsibilities. A post baccalaureate
degree in religious or
social science studies is not required, but is a plus.
The successful
candidate must also have an understanding of the
role of a major public research university in an urban setting, and the
role
of a Catholic, faith-based organization in such a university.
The
successful candidate must have the ability to work with all levels of
the
universitys organization, and experience in working with
diverse
populations. Having experience in grant-writing, fundraising and
website
development are a plus. The successful candidate must have
excellent
communication skills and demonstrate an ability to act as an
effective
representative of the John Paul II Newman Foundation in a
self-directed
environment. In addition, the position requires the ability to
work
nontraditional hours.
