Position Title: .5 Temporary Career Development Specialist Pay: $9.00/hr - $10.00/hr.
(20 hour week for approximately 6 months)

Reports To: Manager, Career Development Services Department: Career Development Services
Positions Summary:
Reports to the manager, career development services. Responsible for providing individual career development services for Job Corps students that lead to long-term employment, earnings growth and further education in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide students with basic direction in career development and assist them in preparing to enter the labor market or to obtain further education and training.
2. Provide career counseling during the career preparation period and continue through career development and career transition periods.
3. Provide job readiness and employability skills training including knowledge of the labor market.
4. Motivate and counsel students in areas of CTT selection, behavior, training, personal problems or study habits.
5. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
6. Coordinate with instructors, residential advisors, counselors, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student career development.
7. Develop student personnel career development plans and monitor student career development by, but not limited to, participating in career management teams.
8. Conduct the exit program.
9. Provide graduates with services that include: Identifying, making referrals to and placing them into suitable employment or educational opportunities and connecting them with services that support successful transition and job retention.
10.Coordinate with post-center career transition specialist to address students’ transitional support needs.
11.Provide initial placement into employment or educational opportunities for eligible former enrollees.
12.Maintain contact with industry and businesses for the purpose of developing placement opportunities.
13.Maintain program linkages with DOL, national, state and local agencies to provide placement services.
14.Compile required data using the Job Corps automated case management system in order to track and report student information to
the Regional Office, support service agencies and/or other training programs.
15.Prepare reports and assist in the development of the center’s CDSS plan.
16.Assist in the development and conduct of outreach assistance activities in support of center contract and organized Regional Office
efforts.
17.Document, verify and report placement and support services as required.
18.Promote and support CDSS.
19.Participate in Career Success Standards programs and activities, student employability programs and activities.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field or four years experience working with youth. One year experience in sales, marketing or counseling related field. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
