Position Title:                       Senior Residential Advisor                 Base Pay:                              $10.13/hr

                                                Full time/w benefits

 

Reports to:                            Manager, Residential Living                             Department:         Residential

 

Positions Summary:

Reports to the manager, residential living.  Directly supervises the residential advisors on assigned shift or dormitory.  Responsible for residential activities providing for maximum program coordination, student discipline and preparation of records and reports.  Functions as Center Duty Officer (CDO) on assigned shift.

 

Essential Functions:

1.             Supervise and control group living conditions, evaluate situations and conditions within the dormitories and make decisions or recommendations.

2.             Perform administrative duties involving student passes, leaves, evaluations, progress reports, emergencies, terminations for assigned shift.

3.             Perform residential advisor functions as necessary to ensure safety and proper student behavior in the dormitories.

4.             Communicate with families of students by mail and phone as required to resolve problems and assure the well-being of students.

5.             Inspect dormitory areas; recommend facility maintenance work where needed; direct dorm patrol and daily cleanup.

6.             Ensure cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.

7.             Requisition supplies to provide needs for dorm living and safety of students.

8.             Determine, recommend and arrange student visitors to counselor.  Review problems related to assigned students and children with counselors.

9.             Participate in and conduct career preparation, career development and career transition activities in accordance with the schedule, as assigned.

10.          As assigned, coordinate Residential Program for students and children assigned to solo parent dorm. 

11.          Conduct staff meetings to review unit/form activities and make work assignments.

12.          Establish, implement and supervise control procedures to maximize student living standards.  Inspect dormitory areas regularly; recommend facility maintenance where needed; direct dorm patrol and clean up.

13.          Supervise proper administration of all paperwork and records for assigned unit.  Ensure that specified documents are turned over to each shift.  Compile status report for area of responsibilities.

14.          As designated, serve as center duty officer.

15.          Promote and support the CDSS plan.

16.          Participate in student employability programs and activities.

17.          Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.  Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Associates degree and one year experience working with youth. Valid commercial driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
