Job Description:
Sierra Club, a leading environmental conservation organization, is seeking
an Associate Regional Representative for our National Coal Campaign in the
Northern Gulf Region. The Associate Regional Representative carries out the
strategies and activities for the National Coal Campaign in Louisiana and
participates in the development of strategies and priorities. Provides
similar support on an as-needed basis in Mississippi and Alabama. The
Associate Regional Representative coordinates education efforts on coal and
related energy and conservation issues throughout the region with our
chapter staff, national staff and volunteers abroad.
 
Activities include: developing strong grassroots networks, representing the
Sierra Club to the public and in the media, developing public education and
media strategies, working to build and sustain issue coalitions, educating
and training volunteers, participating in various issue committee and
conservation meetings and lobbying public officials on issues of importance
to the Sierra Club.
 
Qualified candidates will have a B.A./B.S. degree in Environmental Studies,
Political Science or a closely related field; 1-2 years experience in the
environmental field that includes research and organizing campaigns, press
relations and public speaking; prior experience and knowledge of the
legislative process; good writing and oral communication skills.

*This is a grant-funded, limited duration position with and ending date of 6
mo. + 1 day from date of hire.
