Program Manager-District Reform
Major Focus Areas:
Project and grants management, progress monitoring, knowledge management and
communications for the Funds district reform efforts.
Background:
The Fund for Educational Excellence supports the continuous improvement of
student achievement through innovative research, programs, resources, and
stakeholder engagement designed to promote ongoing district reform. Building
the capacity of public schools and districts to support all students is a
core part of the Funds Vision, and the Program Manager-District Reform
will
play an integral role in supporting, enhancing and expanding the Funds
district reform efforts, particularly with the Baltimore City Public School
System The successful candidate must have proven abilities to build
effective peer-to-peer relationships with both internal and external
constituents, as well as to successfully design and manage operational and
project related processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage all financial and human resources in support of the Funds
district
reform and capacity-building efforts;
Coordinate/monitor program initiatives, activities and events;
Liaise with school board, district leadership, foundation and community
partners on shared outcomes, progress measures, successes and challenges;
Research and disseminate best practices from urban districts and reform
service organizations nationwide;
Document and disseminate information about, and lessons learned from, the
Funds district reform in Baltimore City;
Represent and promote district reform efforts with external stakeholders;
Maintain working knowledge of local, state and federal policies and
practices around education reform; and
Support and enhance ongoing systemic reform initiatives including, but
not
limited to: high school choice; college access and readiness; and new school
creation.
Skills and Abilities:
Experience with urban schools and/or school districts and in-depth
knowledge of best practices and current policies around education reform;
Build and manage effective and diverse teams, multiple vendors and
complex
projects in a fast-paced environment;
Analysis, critical thinking, strategic planning and problem-solving
experience often with limited information and changing circumstances; and
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience
communicating with a range of audiences.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to increasing life options for all young people
through urban education;
Bachelors degree in education, public policy, business, or closely
related field. Masters degree is preferred.
