Job Description:
People & Systems is assisting an international hunger-related organization
in the Boston area with their search for a Media Relations/Marketing Officer
or Manager.
 
OPPORTUNITY:
 
This is an exciting opportunity for a media relations/marketing professional
to join small staff at a growing organization with many untapped
possibilities. In this role you will create, implement and manage national
marketing and pr initiatives, plans, strategies, and programs with the goal
of stimulating interest in the organizations fundraising goals. You will
develop and implement a national marketing and media relations strategy to
reach target audiences and increase awareness. You primary focus will be to
provide proactive leadership in cultivating relationships with appropriate
reporters and editors from regional and national media outlets to ensure
consistent, articulate media coverage throughout the US; pitch story ideas
and coordinate media requests for interviews. In addition you will write,
edit, design, publish and disseminate print and electronic communication
including newsletters, media alerts, brochures, and press releases.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
The position requires a BA and 2-3+ years experience in marketing,
communications and/or public and media relations including hands-on
experience developing and implementing strategies (candidates without media
relations experience will NOT be considered). Experience with graphic
design and a proven track record working closely with the President and the
development team to create institutional branding and messaging is highly
desired.
