Job Title: Program Director, Boston Youth Network

Job Description:
The Boston Youth Network (BYN) is an after school program for ethically
diverse youth ages 11-17 who either live or go to school in the East Boston
community. The goal of the program is to offer academic support and
recreational opportunities while helping participants deal with issues such
as staying in school, improving academic performance, family, culture, and
self-esteem. BYN also provides a peer leadership component where high school
teens ages 14-17, educate themselves and their peers on topics including
substance abuse prevention, violence prevention, teen pregnancy, STDs,
HIV/AIDS, gang violence, domestic violence, etc.
 
Responsibilities:
 Develop program design, curriculum, and evaluation outcomes.
 Complete quarterly/biannual reports, monthly budget/billing work, and
other paperwork as required.
 Meet with EBSC director weekly or as needed to discuss program and
administrative issues.
 Maintain a balanced budget and meet with business manager regularly to
plan budget for each fiscal year.
 Hire and supervise program staff, interns and volunteers, and conduct
annual performance evaluations.
 Support staff development and training needs.
 Maintain a relationship with schools and other collaborating agencies and
community organizations
 Collaborate with other EBSC programs and local organizations to provide
participants with community service opportunities.
 Supervise youth during daily activities, field trips, and workshops.
 Create and update all program forms including participant master list and
monthly calendars
 Participate in monthly East Boston Youth Workers Task Force Meetings
 Participate in any other general duties as needed
 
Qualifications:
 Experience working with adolescent youth and their families
 Self- motivated and independent
 Creative
 Patient
 Research knowledge/experience desirable.
 Ability to work effectively with diverse East Boston community and new
Immigrants
 Ability to complete budget work, reports, and other required paperwork
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
 Familiarity with the East Boston community desirable
 Ability to work individually and as part of a team
 Spanish/ English bilingual strongly preferred.
 Drivers license a plus
