Job Title: Field Manager/Canvass
Director
Organization: Working America
Location: National
Salary:
FT Regular
Job Description:
Working America:
We Get Real.
And So Can You.
Check out the REAL reasons to work at Working America, the community
affiliate of the AFL-CIO!
Real Passion
We have it. And so do you. A passion
for fairness. A commitment to worker
rights and equality for all. A vision of society where
people trump
profits. A belief that it can really happen. And the energy to help get it
done.
Real Challenge
This is a year like no other. And Working America
offers you a chance like
no other to educate for action, forge a fair economy, and win progressive
change. We fly under the radar and
against popular wisdom to reach
workers across the country with a take on economic issues that bolsters real
people rather than mega-corporate profits. With 2 million members, Working
America provides voice and power for workers who do not have a union on the
job. We talk with people at their doors and in their communities about
issues like health care, the debt crisis, and corporate accountability. And
we follow up with an ongoing program of contact and communication. Working
America engages real working people to act on their dreams and aspirations,
rather than vote on their fears.
"Without Working America, you're just one vote and one voice. With Working
America, you stand united with more than 2 million other citizens who are
redefining what it means to be American."
Jennifer Hofelich, Canvass Director
Real Power
Were big: 2 million
members; 16 states; strong infrastructure; a powerful
impact.
In 2008, 1 out of every 13 voters in Pennsylvania will be a member of
Working America. Well have 800,000 members in
Ohio, in more than 300
towns. Were registering Hispanic voters in New Mexico, and building a base
for health care reform wherever we are.
"Everyday at Working America I come into contact with someone who
genuinely
appreciates the work I do. There aren't many opportunities like that; and I
know we are making a difference."
Rachel Colyer, Canvass Director, Philadelphia
