Grant Writer (part time)
The New York City Police Museum
 
The Grant Writer is responsible for the development and preparation of
foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals; interim and final
reports; and other correspondence related to grants and sponsorships
directed to institutional funders of The New York City Police Museum. In
addition to the duties above, the Grant Writer will work closely with the
Development Director and Executive Director to research potential funding
sources and develop best prospects for Museum programs and exhibitions.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Write and edit proposals, reports, and other correspondence for submission
to foundation, corporate, and government funders
 Research private, corporate, and government funding opportunities
 Maintain collaborative working relationships with museum staff in
fundraising efforts, including developing proposals and budget.
 Maintain a portfolio of program and promotional materials that are used as
attachments to proposals and grants
 Adhere to internal deadline calendar for grants and proposals
 Assist in acknowledging/tracking grants and managing grant contracts
 
Minimum Requirements:
 Bachelors degree
 Minimum of two years experience in development
 Proven record of successful grants and proposals
 Strong written and verbal communication skills
 Possess organizational skills and attention to detail
 Entrepreneurial and creative thinking
 Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and tasks
 Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel,
MS Outlook
