Job Description:
Primary Purpose:
The Cuban/Haitian Program Caseworker provides orientation and on-going case
management services to family reunion and free case Cuban and Haitian
entrants resettled through the Cuban/Haitian Program.
Essential Duties:
Provides cultural and program orientation and information to newly
arrived clients, including information regarding rights and
responsibilities, as well as federal and local services available to
clients.
Secures housing for clients that is decent, safe, and sanitary.
Furnishes apartments with donated beds, sofas, tables, chairs,
refrigerators, etc. in preparation for arrival of new clients. .
Meets new arrivals at airport; transports to new apartment.
Provides on-going case management to clients according to the terms
of the Cooperative Agreement with Department of Homeland Security.
Assists clients in obtaining Social Security cards and other
necessary documentation.
Provides referrals to social service providers and government
agencies; schedules appointments.
Regularly interprets between English and Spanish to assist clients
in the resettlement process.
Transports clients to various appointments to fulfill service
requirements.
Prepares Resettlement and Employment Plans in consultation with each
client.
Requests payments for direct client assistance and emergency
assistance as needed.
Conducts home visits to clients as required, paying special
attention to cases that include minors.
Maintains an orderly case file for each case and fulfills
programmatic documentation requirements.
Assists the Lancaster Director in preparation of required reports.
Performs other related duties as requested.
Works evening and/or weekend hours on occasion as required, often on
short notice.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Experience:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of one years previous work
experience in refugee or immigrant-related services, providing familiarity
with U.S. refugee and/or immigration issues and terminology. Experience
working with churches or church-based organizations is preferred. A
background in case management or social work is desirable.

Prepare reports on program status relative to budget and finances.

Understand organizational priorities and is willing to set aside own tasks

Other Skills:
Fluency in both Spanish and English is required, along with good verbal and
written communication skills in both languages. The successful candidate
must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and
Access) and internet applications. A valid drivers license is also
required, along with the ability to move furniture and donations.
