For much of our country's history millions of Americans were, by law, denied
the right to
vote. Thanks to years of work by dedicated activists, we?ve eliminated most
legal
restrictions denying certain Americans the right to vote.
 
But there are still impediments preventing many Americans from exercising
this basic
right and getting their voices heard
 
Historically underrepresented communities are consistently kept at a
disadvantage due to
a lack of political power. Voter registration is a critical first step
toward restoring
political equality to historically underrepresented communities.

Ideal candidates are motivated, action-oriented college graduates who are

politics with a commitment to social justice and civic engagement. As a
Community Voters
Project Canvass Director, you will run one of our local registration
offices, where
you'll be responsible for registering between 10,000-50,000 voters and
managing a staff
of 14-40 non-partisan voter registration canvassers.
 
The Community Voters Project (CVP) is an intensive, multi-state non-partisan
campaign to
register 500,000 African American and Hispanic voters in Colorado, Florida,
Michigan,
Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. The
Community
Voters Project is working with the Fund for Public Interest Research to run
this
campaign. This is a Work For Progress recruitment campaign conducted on
behalf of the
Fund for the Public Interest.
