About FMC
FMC is a USA-based NGO that works to ensure a brighter future for musicians.
We focus on two areas: 1) compensation and copyright; and 2) access to
audiences via the internet, new business models, and the radio. We work
with members of the music, technology, public policy and intellectual
property law communities to understand the policy landscape for musicans; to
educate the media, policymakers, and the public about music / technology
issues; and to bring together diverse voices in an effort to come up with
creative solutions to some of the challenges in this space.

About The Project
The international project has two parts. First, we document the experiences
of indigenous musicians in specific regions around the world  including
Central Asia (Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan), African Rift Valley
(Ethiopia, Kenya), and Australia  and identify challenges and opportunities
around compensation and access to audiences. Second, we interview leaders
in the field who have modeled successful indigenous/commercial partnerships,
learn about their work, and compile best practices. Both projects are
executed simultaneously over two years.

The Fellows Work
FMC seeks fellows who would work in 5+ month terms and help research and
interview musicians and music business people from around the world. Duties

travel with team as road/logistics manager on a trip and/or participate in
