Job Title: Vice President for
Development
Organization: Bellarmine Preparatory School
Location: Tacoma, WA
Salary:
FT Regular
Job Description:
Bellarmine Preparatory School is a Catholic high school in the Jesuit
tradition of education. It has close ties to the Jesuit order whose
inspired leaders began this enterprise in one remote building in 1928 on the
present site that overlooks the city of Tacoma, Washington and Mt. Rainier.
Today, Bellarmine enrolls approximately 1,000 students. The school sits on
42 acres and has grown from one building to many, including a recently built
state of the art science and math building.
The Vice President for Development is the primary fundraising/alumni
relations officer of the school and sits on the Executive Council.
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President will oversee a team
of 8 professionals that all provide donor and alumni relations support to a
base of approximately 15,000 constituents. Bellarmines alumni/ae are
geographically distributed around the country, although a majority reside in
the Puget Sound region. In the course of normal work the Vice President
will be expected to engage donors in cultivation and solicitation that
occurs outside the building. It is anticipated that this position will
average about 30% of the time external to the office, be it in local visits,
regional or national travel.
The Vice President for Development will be instrumental in creating a robust
culture of philanthropy by providing overall leadership for development
efforts, with a special emphasis on securing individual major gifts, to
ensure achievement of annual and multi-year fundraising goals and objectives
according to priorities set by the President and Board of Trustees. S/he
will be expected to perform all work in accord with the goals and
philosophies outlined in the Bellarmine Mission Statement.
Bellarmine Preparatory School seeks an innovative, entrepreneurial
professional with a minimum of 5 - 8 years fundraising tenure, preferably
with secondary school experience, and a proven record of success in
soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations. A
track record in personally raising significant funds annually from a variety
of sources is necessary. Management experience and demonstrated success
with budget preparation, planning and resource management, and staff
development and supervision are also required. A passion for the mission of
Bellarmine and Jesuit education is essential.
