Job Description:
Washington National Opera, one of the nations premier opera companies,
seeks an Individual Giving Manager able to successfully cultivate and
steward individual donors within an annual fund campaign. This staff member
will manage the solicitation process for The Opera Guild membership program
with gifts ranging up to a $2,500 donation level. The Individual Giving
Manager also will oversee donor benefits and manage the Operas relationship
with direct mail and telemarketing vendors. In addition, the Individual
Giving Manager will have the opportunity to steward a personal pool of
prospects and donors. This position is especially suitable for someone with
experience in managing giving up to the $2,500 level and wishing to gain
experience in higher level major gifts solicitation.
 
Successful candidates will have 3-5 years experience in the development
field, including direct mail, telemarketing, and annual fund experience.
Bachelors Degree and experience with fundraising databases (preferably
Tessitura) required. Experience in budgeting and reporting and a strong
desire to analyze multi-year data is preferred. Candidates must also have
exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational
skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Interest/knowledge in opera or
the performing arts preferred.
