Job Description:
Sierra Club, the country's oldest, largest and most influential conservation
organization is hiring a National Conservation Organizer to work on our
Global Warming & Energy Program in Washington, D.C. The National
Conservation Organizer works with national and regional field staff,
national committees and volunteers to mobilize grassroots support for clean
energy solutions and organize events and skills training. May work outside
of the office to communicate with officials, the media and the public.
Works with professional staff in editing, writing, researching, and
coordinating functions. Helps plan campaigns, supports grassroots media
work and lobbies federal officials. Requires: 1-2 years experience working
with volunteers in the environmental movement, political campaigns, or
other, similar organizations to plan and implement grassroots campaigns;
current basic knowledge of global warming and energy issues; excellent
communication, writing and editing skills; ability to work effectively in
action-oriented office; proficient computer skills; ability to travel as
needed.
*This is a full-time, limited duration position ending 1 year from date of
hire.
