developing recent college graduates professional skills in the nonprofit
arena. ICP will select one full-time Fellow to work as part of ICPs core
team on the Talloires Network (http://www.tufts.edu/talloiresnetwork/), an
international coalition of higher education institutions committed to
promoting the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education.
The Network was launched at the Talloires Conference 2005, convened by Tufts
University President Lawrence S. Bacow in collaboration with ICP. Working in
partnership with the Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at
Tufts University, ICP serves as the Secretariat of the Network.
As a new initiative, the Talloires Network is currently expanding and
solidifying its programs, while still exploring new opportunities. The
Service Fellow will be an integral part of the team, helping shape the
development of the network while carrying out important Network maintenance.

consideration, please submit your application by Friday, July 11. We will be
interviewing applicants on a rolling basis. The position would begin in

Executive Director. The Fellow will work directly with the Talloires Network
Coordinator.

engagement activities, 2. writing and disseminating articles on the role of
higher education institutions in community development through our monthly
e-newsletter, 3. developing communications and outreach vehicles, including
updating information on the website and blog, 4. working with Talloires
Network partners to continue building the Networks international literacy
project, and 5. other support activities for the Talloires Network
Coordinator.

Applicants will have the following qualifications:
* A strong interest in international higher education, civic participation,
and community development;
* Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills;
* Previous research experience, preferably in the social sciences or
education fields;
* Creative, highly organized and responsible;
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a team under time
pressure, and multi-tasking;
* Bachelors degree required;
* US work authorization required.
Desired Qualifications:
* Higher education program experience;
* Foreign language ability, particularly Arabic, Portuguese or French.
The Talloires Network:
The Talloires Network aims to catalyze and support a worldwide movement of
leaders of higher education institutions and others who are dedicated to
ensuring that institutions of higher education are engaged in their local
and global communities. It seeks to foster exchange of best practices and
encourage collective action working with both individual and networks of
higher education institutions. The Talloires Network is also in the process
of developing a Global Project on literacy in which all members of the
Talloires Network will participate. Universities on all continents will
collaborate on this initiative, working to maximize their individual and
collective impacts on literacy in their communities.
The Network continues to expand, welcoming new members from around the world
and building alliances with other national, regional, and international
networks. In the next three years, the Networks aims to organize a series of
regional conferences, build an internet-based community of university
leaders, faculty, students and others, and develop tools and resources
available to institutions and individuals working with the issues of higher
education civic engagement.
About the Service Fellow Program:
Innovations in Civic Participation created the Service Fellow Program in
order to expose recent college graduates with an interest in service and
civic participation to the workings of an internationally focused
non-profit. ICP is structured to afford each Fellow the opportunity to work
closely with a small team dedicated to improving opportunities for young
people around the world to play an important role in addressing critical
community needs.
About Innovations in Civic Participation:
ICP was founded as a non-profit organization in 2001 and provides expertise,
ideas, information, research, and advocacy support in the United States and
around the world to develop and strengthen policies and programs that
promote civic engagement through service. ICP applies service as a strategy
to address a wide range of social issues and is supported by foundations
such as the Ford Foundation and W.K. Kellogg Foundation; multilateral
agencies such as the Inter-American Development Bank; U.S. government
agencies such as the State Department; and host country governments such as
the United Kingdom.
ICP is working on an array of projects in the United States and overseas
that support the development of national and community service policies and
programs. In the US, ICP focuses its efforts on broadening and deepening
support for national and community service by developing pathways and
transition strategies for AmeriCorps members after service, identifying and
supporting innovative state programming, and promoting discussions among
policymakers, funders, and practitioners in specific issue areas such as
children and youth in out-of-school time, rural development, and independent
living for seniors.
Internationally, ICP is developing regional capacity in Asia, Latin America
and Africa, awarding small grants to support innovative youth service policy
development, building strategic partnerships to assist in the design and
implementation of innovative service programs and policies, and collecting
