Job Description:
Innovations in Civic Participation is searching for a Program Associate with
at least 3-5 years experience in organizational development and project
planning / management, or equivalent experience, to play a key role in
shaping the future of ICP. The Program Associate will be both a strategic
thinker and planner who can advance the mission of ICP and an experienced
project manager who can effectively plan and lead projects from design to
completion. Applicants should be skilled in fundraising and strategic
planning, project planning, implementation, evaluation, researching, and
writing. The ideal candidate will be extremely well organized and
independent, with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in
an entrepreneurial environment.
 
About the Program Associate Position:
The Program Associate will manage aspects of organizational development and
communications, as well as manage domestic and international projects. The
Program Associate reports to the Executive Director (ED) and actively
collaborates with other staff on the full range of projects and duties.
 
This position will involve work in three major areas: (1) organizational
development; (2) fundraising and partnership development; and (3) project
planning and management.
 
Project Planning and Management:
 Develop project ideas and concept papers with Executive Director and other
staff Develop project objectives, goals, and work plans with tasks,
timelines, and budgets, including background research on project areas
 Work with partners, consultants, and ICP staff and interns to implement
projects
 Work with ICP staff to organize international conferences and meetings
 Monitor projects and track progress on goals, spending, and outcomes
 Manage all reporting requirements and communication with funders for
projects within scope of responsibilities
 Design and conduct evaluations of projects or initiatives, as needed
 
Fundraising and Partnership Development:
 Work with ED to identify, research and cultivate potential funders
 Develop partnerships with organizations that have strategic value to
promote youth service globally, in collaboration with ICP
 Develop funding proposals for projects and for organizational support
 Together with other staff and ED, develop strategic plans for pursuing
funding opportunities as well as for generating additional sources of income
through consulting
 
Organizational Development and Communications:
 Collaborate with ED and other staff to hire, assign tasks to, and
supervise the Office Manager, Service Fellows, and Interns
 Participate in and lead aspects of strategic planning
 Coordinate staff teams to write promotional materials, strategic plans,
business plans, activities reports, and other organizational documentation
 Work with ICP staff and interns to identify, develop, and update
appropriate web content
 Manage ICP staff on external communications to ensure quality, including
monthly newsletter, dissemination of publications, and press releases
 Research, write, edit, and disseminate articles, project reports, and
other publications
 Represent ICP at conferences and other meetings
 
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and
characteristics:
 Masters degree in a related field
 3-5 years experience in non-profit organizational development and/or
program implementation
 Excellent communication skills - including oral, written, and presentation
skills - with the ability to represent ICP in a professional, engaging, and
dynamic manner.
 Strong planning and organizational skills
 Experience working with potential or current donors, including grant
writing and reporting
 Strong research skills, preferably in the social sciences field
 Previous supervision or team leadership experience
 Demonstrated commitment to national service and/or service-learning and
passion for the mission and goals of ICP
 Collaborative team player and manager who is willing to go above and
beyond job description for the success of ICP
 Knowledge one or more foreign language
 
Desired Qualifications:
 Strong understanding of program evaluation and impact assessment methods
 Experience working in or knowledge of South Asia
 Experience with web-based technologies
 Experience with conference planning and logistics

Salary and Benefits:
The salary for this position will be in the $40,000  42,000 range. Benefits
include: medical and dental insurance, retirement account contribution, and
three weeks of combined vacation/sick leave.

programs and policies and building networks that result in many more young
people being given the opportunity to engage in civic activities. Since
2001, the team at ICP has worked to expand opportunities for tens of
thousands of young people throughout the world to engage in service. ICP has
been highly acclaimed for its innovative thinking and contributions to the
field by policymakers, practitioners, and funders working on youth civic
engagement.
