Primary Purpose of
the Job:
To Work with the
development team to implement a multi-pronged strategy
for substantially
increasing philanthropy to CentroNma. Under the
direction
of the Chief Development Officer, the Development Manager will be
the lead
staff member for (1) oversight of corporate, foundation, public
and
individual donor relations and organizational fund raising events,
(2)
enhancing day-to-day operations of the development department to
increase
departmental efficiencies, and (3) quality control of all
proposals,
collateral materials such as newsletters, annuals reports,
brochures, etc.

organization that
provides high quality education and supportive services to
more than 1,500
children and families in the DC area. Its mission is to
educate children and
youth, and strengthen families, in a bilingual,
multicultural community. Our organization has received
national recognition
as a leader in early childhood education, as a model out
of school care
program and as a center where parents receive the services
needed to
strengthen and sustain their families.
Essential Duties:
Management
1. Coordinate
multifaceted fundraising strategies and ensure the
implementation of the
annual work plan to achieve philanthropic income
goals.
2. Maintain
productive relationships with other departments; work on
cross-departmental
events, projects, processes, and publications.
3. Play an active role in
maintaining a cohesive and goal-oriented
development team, which includes the
Chief Development Officer, two
development associates, a part-time major
gifts associate, development
interns and a Communications Manager.
4.
Monitor development budget.
5. Ensure that organizational leadership receives
accurate and timely
reports, analysis, presentations, and information on
fundraising efforts.
Writing
6. Ensure overall quality control of all letters
of inquiry, proposals and
reports ensuring the organizational brand and core
values are maintained.
7. Demonstrate strong writing and editing
skills.
8. Maintain departmental commitment to organizations design team
approach
to grant development.
Donor
Relations
9. Serve as departmental leader to increase funding and
sponsorship from
corporate, foundation, and government funders and individual
donors:
a. Serve as the primary relationship manager
for organizational donors.
b. Work closely with colleagues to identify
prospects.
c. Work with development staff to produce corporate, foundation,
and
government giving calendar.

Required Experience:
Seeking a well-rounded development
professional with a proven track record
executing several of the following:
grantsmanship, annual giving,
corporate
sponsorship, major gifts, or database management. Prior fundraising
database
experience required. Some prior supervisory and
budget management experience
highly desirable. Knowledge of MS Office
software and ability to master
other software programs as needed. Must be
self-directed, creative,
energetic, flexible, and
organized with excellent communication skills.
Required Education: Bachelors Degree
in related Field of Development
