Job Description:
Position Summary: This 11-month AmeriCorps position will plan and lead natural area tours and environmental education workshops and devise and implement a diverse set of outreach campaigns for the community, such as no idling campaigns, America Recycles Day, junk mail reduction, community clean up efforts, etc. This position will continue the development of an effective volunteer involvement program. The overall goal is to raise environmental awareness, promote a more sustainable community and engage community members of all ages in hands-on environmental education activities and awareness campaigns that promote a greater understanding of our natural world.

General Responsibilities:
 Plan and lead natural area tours and environmental education workshops for diverse groups of youth and adults;
 Coordinate community outreach efforts, including but not limited to the community-wide clean up day, recycling initiative at special events; local speaker presentations and film festivals;
 Identify and develop new tours and workshops that address specific community awareness needs;
 Work with other staff members in attending to general office duties related to the position and mission of the organizations.
 Research and design lesson plans for tours and workshops;
 Help develop a naturalist program to train volunteers to lead tours and workshops;
 Serve evenings and weekends in a time flexible work environment;
 Be personable and engaging while public speaking;
 Develop a system to recruit, train, coordinate and track volunteers;
 Complete and submit all necessary PCC/AmeriCorps paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
 Attend and complete all PCC/AmeriCorps training and service requirements including orientation, trainings, team meetings, and national service days.
 Wear a PCC uniform and/or appropriate identifiers and required safety gear while performing service or attending official events.

Requirements:
 Ability to commit to the full term of service for which they are applying.
 U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
 18 years of age or older, by completion of the program
 Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, or commit to earning one prior to receiving an education award.
 Desire to serve with people to promote education, environmental stewardship and an ethic of service.
 Communicate and interact in a positive, professional manner with various populations such as: project partner(s), colleagues, community volunteers, students and the general public.
 Personal Vehicle
 Serve effectively within a team
 Attend and travel to meetings in various parts of the region.
 Submit to a criminal history background check.
 Regular and reliable attendance.
 Able to work outdoors in inclement weather at extreme temperatures
 Able to lift 30 lbs
 Ability to work in rough and woody terrain

Full-time Member (1700/hr; 11 months) Benefits Include:
 A taxable, monthly living stipend (before taxes, $11,100 or $5,876 for serving entire term of service).
 Upon successful completion of a full term of service, eligible members receive an education award of $4,725 or $2,362.50. The education award can be used to repay qualified student loans, for further education in an accredited institution of higher learning, vocational, or for trade schools. The education award is taxed in the year that it is used.
 Loan forbearance (after successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps will pay the accrued interest on qualified loans, which is taxable).
 Basic medical insurance (covers members only, not dependants; vision and dental not included).
 Childcare allowance for those who qualify.
 Housing assistance is available.
